Long-time Asia birder, leading tours for Birdquest, also doing EIA work in UK and various work involving sound recording. Also recently published my first novel, 'A Field Guide to Bird songs and calls of Britain and Northern Europe'.

I am an obsessive recordist, always out trying to get that perfect recording, although living in noisy old SE England means that can be rather difficult! My recordings on xeno-canto vary from old ones digitised from cassette tape, to more recent ones that are purely digital. I have recently been using Sony HiMD with either Sennheiser ME66 or a Telinga Pro4, or an Edirol R09, which is a lovely bit of kit!
